Joel and I released Siamese TV Lamp on April 21st, and at the risk of sounding corny, I’m proud of myself! I struggled with mental health through this whole process, but I consider the final product worth the places it put me along the way.
I’m proud of Joel too. That guy’s a beast, and his confidence behind a drum set or microphone is inspiring.
Here are some facts that future me might think are cool:
We started recording on 12.6.20, and finished on 4.16.21.
We spent 7 days in the studio: 1 session for live recordings (all of which were scrapped), 4 sessions for multi-tracking instruments or vocals, and 2 sessions for mixing and mastering.
Joel recorded vocals in just one day at the studio (except for harmonies, which he recorded at home).
I recorded my main guitar parts over three days at home. Another half of a day was spent double tracking a few of these parts in the studio.
During the recording of “Siamese TV Lamp”, my whammy bar snapped in half. I was realllllly bummed about this, as it was during a badass take.
In total, we paid Tom $1,850.00 to help us record everything. Joel and I split this 50/50.
During lunch breaks at the studio, we mostly just went to Taco Bell.
